Can I just say that packing for a trip isn't the pleasant experience that it used to be when I was a kid. Then, I laid out my clothes, waited approval from Mom, put them in my suitcase, then put some toys and books in a bag and voila! Done!
Now, as a Mom and Wife-it's a multiple day job! Time is spent finding little goodies to keep two toddlers entertained for 13 hours, making sure we have everyone's vitamins, blankies, and favorite pjs. Remembering socks, church clothes, hairties, shoes, extra of everything, snacks, etc. Getting the EGR valve replaced in the car for over $400 two days before, getting the AC checked out the evening before and praying that the condenser hasn't gone out again (twice in two years is plenty!).
Now it's nearly midnight and we're probably not going to get out by 8am like we'd hoped. But regardless of all frustrations of preparation, we look forward to being together as a family everyday for so long (that doesn't happen too often anymore), and getting to see all of you in a very special place!
Just hope we didn't forget anything!! And travel safe, everyone!
Oh my, Heather. It can be out of control! Every once in a while, I stop the mayhem and ask which one of my kids wants to trade "to-do" and packing lists... So far, no takers.
ReplyDeletewe are also looking forward to time together as a foursome! we haven't been on the road (really any trip--I DO NOT count moving to Utah as a trip) for over a year and we are very excited!
