Day two of our journey to Nauvoo was not productive in terms of mileage but it was great in terms of spending time with family. Danae's niece graduated from high school and we attended commencement. In a sign that our family might be growing up Sophia actually sat through the one and one-half hour ceremony without an iPhone or iPad or anything else to do, was not disruptive, and only needed minimal attention. Very strange indeed. Below is a picture of Sophia posing on a quad at the campus of CU-Boulder, which is where the graduation ceremony was held.
The rest of the day consisted of some time at the Brighton Cultural Fair (which was not very cultural), swimming in the hotel pool, and some Kung Fu Panda 2 at the drive-in. Did you know that at one time there were over 4000 drive-in theaters throughout the country? Now there are about 400. We didn't know that either but now we do. And apparently some organization wants our money to help preserve them. I thought the entrance fee was supposed to do that but what do I know?
Tomorrow we are headed to Kansas City ... about 10 hours. Should be green. We will be sure to say goodbye to the mountains on our way out of Denver. We won't see them for a while.

what a great idea re the drive in! we will have to keep that in mind...
